Professor Joseph Chikelue Obi : "DR(AM) Prefix Initiative can easily be extended to other Clinical Professionals."
Controversial Leader of Opposition against the General Medical Council and Chief Regulator of the Medical Licensing Commission (MLC) , Doctor Joseph Chikelue Obi, has publicly advised Medical Doctors to get their very own unique Professional Prefix Title.
Speaking in response to an avalanche of questions in relation to DR(AM) - the New Alternative Medicine Prefix Title , a widely smiling Professor Obi averred :
"As it currently stands, Medical Doctors all over the world have no Exclusive Universal Prefix Title of their very own , apart from the one which the Medical Profession literally pinched from Academicians, very many centuries ago.
Now that an utterly misguided group of Medical Doctors has foolishly started harassing Dentists , Optometrists, Pharmacists , Chiropractors, Podiatrists , Psychologists and other equally entitled Clinical Heathcare Professionals ; it is only a matter of time when Medical Doctors themselves will given an exceptionally bitter taste of their very own Medicine ; most especially those with MBBS , MB BCH , BM and MB CHB Degrees.
Although the DR(AM) Alternative Medicine Prefix Initiative can easily be extended to other Clinical Professionals ; I am not currently convinced that it will do the DR(AM) Brand any good if almost everybody was able to use it , all of the time. And that is why I have decided to fundamentally limit it's usage solely to those who are Fellows of RCAM.
It is therefore fundamentally imperative that the Global Medical Community urgently rebrands itself too, and ethically pursues it's very own Promotional (and Professional) Identity . . . perhaps by expediently adopting the Statutory German Professional Prefix Initiative of DR MED , without any further delay.
Otherwise , the Medical Profession significantly risks having it's Core Professional Identity comprehensively eroded - as most of the Chief Executives of Statutory Medical Councils around the world are not Medical Doctors in the very first place . . . and frankly couldn't even care less about the relatively inconsequential issue of graciously massaging the formidable egos of their registrants , with High Octane Titles ."
